Signiant Appoints Thomas Smith as Vice President of Service Provider Sales

20-year telecom industry veteran to lead Signiant's global sales efforts to telecom, cable, and satellite service providers; content delivery networks

BURLINGTON, MA April 7, 2008 — Signiant® Inc., the leading developer of digital media distribution management solutions for the telco, media and entertainment industries, today announced the appointment of Thomas Smith, a 20-year telecom industry veteran, as vice president of sales for its service provider business. Smith will lead Signiant's global sales efforts to telecommunications, cable and satellite service providers, as well as content delivery networks (CDNs).

Smith comes to Signiant from Broadwing, a US fiber-based optical and IP services provider (acquired by Level 3 Communications in 2007), where he was head of the strategic carrier sales and marketing channel and responsible for international business development efforts. At Broadwing since 2001, Smith implemented vertically aligned sales strategies and led global expansion with carriers in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Asia.

Previously, Smith held senior sales and business development positions at NorthPoint Communications, a facilities-based CLEC acquired by AT&T; MCI Communications, MCI Metro and OpenReach. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an MBA from the Bentley College, McCallum Graduate School of Business.
