Signiant® Media Exchange is a powerful application for companies who need to acquire rich media content and move it quickly into an automated workflow. With a simple web based upload and a broadband connection, rich media content can be accelerated securely over the Internet into film, production and news environments.

Signiant Media Exchange replaces legacy FTP, hardware acceleration and inflexible, client-based ingest tools. With Signiant Media Exchange, it is now possible to ingest rich media content over the Internet with no client software.

• Includes a powerful web based interface for broadband users ingesting, publishing or distributing rich media content between organizations across public or private WAN connections.

• Provides Central management, Reporting, Automation and WAN file acceleration to include integration with Signiant's Media Manager and Agents products.

• Acquires content from field broadcast operations over the Internet. For example, news crews can accelerate content through the network to multiple destinations, including affiliates, by dynamically assigning the ingested content a higher movement priority.

• Creates a portal on the Internet for the exchange of film dailies or remote news gathering permitting the upload of content and delivery identification to specific users authorized to receive the content.

• Ensures efficient file transfers of rich media even over networks with high latency and guarantees package arrival with certified delivery and file checkpointing features.

• Automatically senses available WAN bandwidth and chooses the optimal protocol to move files in and out of a centrally managed workflow.

Signiant Media Exchange Packaging

Signiant Media Exchange is packaged to allow customers to run the application as stand-alone or tightly integrated with the Media Manager for integrated workflows. Signiant Media Exchange core elements include:

• Media Exchange Manager for performing administration and reporting of all the Media Exchange activity. Also included is a web server for delivering the web application to the end users.

• Media Exchange Agents for performing uploads and downloads with the Web clients. For expanded capacity, additional Media Exchange Agents can be added to the solution.

The core elements can be run on a server class hardware device or for greater performance and scaling Media Exchange Agents can be run on separate servers.

Media Exchange Features:

• Web User Interface - no client software required on user machines, utilizes a Java plug-in

• Firewall friendly transfers with UDP, TCP and HTTP transport options with automatic retry and file check-pointing

• Internal or integrated Directory Services (LDAP & AD) Authentication and Authorization

• Email notification informing users when packages are available

• When integrated with the Media Manager, Media Exchange centralizes media workflows, users and package policies. The Media Manager also displays dashboards to monitor all activity through the network and provides detailed reports.
