Former VidSys and Cisco executive to lead Signiant’s global marketing efforts.
BURLINGTON, MA August 29th, 2007 — Signiant® Inc., the leading developer of digital media distribution management solutions for the media and entertainment industry, today announced the appointment Tony Lapolito as Vice President of Marketing. Lapolito brings over fifteen years of experience in the networking and video industries, having held executive management positions at VidSys, Cisco, SightPath, Artel Video Systems and 3Com. In his new position, Lapolito will lead Signiant's global marketing operations and will help guide the company's overall market strategy.
Dennis Albano, Signiant's CEO comments: "We are thrilled to have such a seasoned executive as Tony join our talented team. Tony comes to us with a unique combination of experience with early stage, venture-capital backed companies as well as large well-established companies in the networking and video industries.
"As the media and entertainment industry undergoes a profound transformation, fueled by new revenue models based on the premise of consuming any content, anywhere, at any time on any device, digital content providers are facing what essentially amounts to a serious supply chain issue: how to manage the rapid and secure movement of digital media from the moment it is created to the moment it is consumed. Signiant's groundbreaking technology addresses these issues head on and I am excited to be part of this next big wave of change in the industry," comments Tony Lapolito, Signiant's newly appointed Vice President of Marketing.
Before joining Signiant, Lapolito led the marketing team at VidSys -- a leader in the Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) market -- where he was responsible for developing the company's go-to-market strategies, laying out product roadmaps, and was instrumental in the rapid development of the emerging PSIM market segment.
Prior to VidSys, Lapolito managed the marketing efforts of Cisco Systems' Application and Content Networking division and was responsible for Layer4-7 switching, Content Delivery Networking (CDN), and caching products. During his tenure at Cisco, he oversaw the successful integration of the SightPath, Arrowpoint, Tasmania Networks and Precept Software acquisitions, while realizing substantial revenue growth.
Previously, Lapolito held senior marketing and engineering positions at leading high technology companies that include SightPath, Artel Video Systems, 3Com, Chipcom, Leaf Systems and GTE. Tony holds a BSEE from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and an MBA from Boston College.
