Italian Broadcaster Adopts Signiant for File-based Workflow
BURLINGTON, MA (September 10, 2008) – Signiant, the leading developer of digital media distribution management solutions for the telco, media and entertainment industries, announced today that Mediaset, one of Italy’s largest commercial broadcast networks, has adopted Signiant’s Digital Media Distribution Management Suite as a key part of its digital media distribution strategy. The installation was completed in June 2008 by CVE, Signiant’s Italian partner.
Mediaset joins a growing number of major European broadcasters that have chosen Signiant to streamline their file-based distribution networks. Initially, the Signiant system will be used to accelerate secure transfers of large files between Mediaset’s broadcast operations in Rome and Milan, and to facilitate content exchange with people outside of the Mediaset organisation. The broadcaster will also use Signiant to connect its regional sites on an IP network, and to allow reporters to upload field-generated content.
“Our aim was to have a completely automated workflow, to unify processes and have a single point of configuration and management,” said Mauro Cassanmagnago, director of engineering, Mediaset. “The Signiant installation has streamlined our operations and enabled us to manage our resources much more efficiently.”
“Mediaset’s adoption of Signiant’s technology provides further confirmation of the necessity for solid digital media distribution strategies and of Signiant’s growing dominance in this arena,” said David Nortier, managing director, Signiant Europe. “We are delighted to be working with forward-thinking companies like Mediaset to develop digital media supply chains that allow them to save time, money and resources.”
Signiant’s Digital Media Distribution Management Suite provides an open, integrated, software-only solution for moving digital media within the internal and external production workflows of leading telco, media and entertainment companies. Signiant software is compatible with both in-house and industry-standard applications, making it easy to integrate with any existing infrastructure and ensuring that the right media gets to the right place at the right time, reliably and securely.
