On Oct 1, 2014, all U.K. broadcasters met a key milestone established through an industry-wide partnership: they were ready to receive digital program content via a single common file delivery format. As a key provider of enabling technology in the industry’s move toward end-to-end file-based workflows, Signiant has been instrumental in the practical implementation of this initiative.

To be a leader in the cloud arena, you need to have a clear definition of what cloud technology means to you, and your approach to cloud computing. I call this the “Cloud Credo.” Mine is built on three key points: content should be free; SaaS is here to stay; and, “design for the cloud” is worth the effort. Broadcast post production facility Envy Post Production has adopted Media Shuttle hybrid SaaS file transfer to move large files securely between business partners and its global customer base. The company serves and produces content for major UK broadcasters and a number of international channels including Discovery Channel and National Geographic in the US.

For the past several months, all 29 Hearst stations have used a cloud-based advertising spot delivery system powered by Signiant’s Managers+Agents platform. Currently, the station group is using the new system for national ads, with a plan to do a local ad rollout throughout the summer.
