Broadcast Engineering | Testing FIMS 1.0

February 23, 2013 4:04 pm Published by A practical approach to standardization requires more than object models and interface definitions to gain serious traction. Consequently, the FIMS Technical Board recognized the need for a tool to help FIMS implementers validate their implementations. Signiant did as well, given the test-driven development methodology we use to develop software. Using such an approach, developers create and code tests to validate an implementation before coding it. This leads to higher quality products that can be evolved quickly.

Creative Cow | LA-Based Venture 3D Selects Signiant Media Shuttle for Accelerated Delivery of Massive 3D Movie Files

February 6, 2013 12:15 am Published by Known for its conversion work on “Titanic 3D” and “The Chronicle’s of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” Venture 3D is using Media Shuttle to deliver the film “Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons” directed by Stephen Chow of “Shaolin Soccer” and “Kung Fu Hustle” fame. SVG | Winter X Games Live: ESPN Embarks on Global Expansion With Revamped Production Model

January 24, 2013 12:04 am Published by Doubling the number of events has forced ESPN to drastically rethink how it produces and distributes the X Games — both in the U.S. and abroad. In that vein, the ESPN brain trust has developed a cookie-cutter–style production model that will be essentially duplicated at all six X Games this year. The new workflow reduces on-site staff and gear, while using ESPN’s Bristol, CT, broadcast center as a de facto IBC (International Broadcast Center) for graphics insertion, features editing, live-feed integration, global distribution, and more. The revamped production model debuts this week in Aspen.

Digital Media World | Film Festival Picks a Winner with Media Shuttle

December 2, 2012 3:22 pm Published by “For previous festivals, we relied on free file sharing sites for digital film submissions. With finished file sizes exceeding 2Gb, filmmakers often experienced long upload times – up to three hours – and if transfers were interrupted for any reason, time was lost and they had to start all over again,” said Festival President Kevin Burton. “With 60 days to make their films, every minute counts.” In addition to submission of lower resolution judging versions of entries, Media Shuttle will be used to submit the final ProRes digital film versions for screening, instead of relying on couriers or in-person deliveries.
