Appointments underline business growth and technical innovation in cloud technology

BURLINGTON, MA (April 1, 2014) – Signiant, the market leader in intelligent file movement software, today announced that two of the media industry’s most prominent technology executives have joined its Board of Directors. The appointments come at a time when the company’s leadership position in cloud technology and innovative next-generation offerings are driving unprecedented growth in Signiant’s business.

Joining the board are Lawrence R. Kaplan and John McCoskey, each bringing unique industry experience to the Signiant Board. Larry Kaplan is president and CEO of SDVI Corporation, an early stage company focused on the benefits of virtualized video infrastructures.  Kaplan has a long history of successfully leading technology companies that serve the media industry.  He was the founding CEO of Omneon, a venture-backed business that significantly changed the video server business and was acquired by Harmonic in 2010. He also held senior positions with Sony, Grass Valley and Tektronix.

John McCoskey is executive vice-president and chief technology officer for the Motion Picture Association of America, the trade association that represents the six major studios.  As one of the industry’s most established technical visionaries, McCoskey is a thought leader in the applicability of cloud technology within the media and entertainment industry.  Prior to the MPAA, he was CTO of PBS, and he has also held senior technical roles at Comcast and Discovery Communications.

The enhanced Board comes as Signiant reported a 65% annual increase in the number of companies using its software, driven by the success of its next-generation hybrid SaaS platform.  As one of the first companies to develop a practical implementation of cloud technology that directly benefits the media industry, Signiant has established a clear leadership position in both technical innovation and responsiveness to the distinctive needs of media customers.

“This is a time of significant growth for Signiant, and it’s exciting to see strong business results driven by our next-generation product strategy,” said Margaret Craig, CEO of Signiant. “Signiant is playing a key role in the technical transformation of the media industry, and in this fast-moving market we recognize the need for experienced counselors who have business acumen, technical insight, and a deep understanding of our industry. Both John and Larry are uniquely qualified to contribute to Signiant’s success, and I am delighted to welcome them to our team.”

Signiant will be exhibiting at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, NV, April 7-10 at Booth #SL9716. Click here to book a meeting with us.
