Widely adopted SaaS platform provides the foundation as media processes move to the cloud

LEXINGTON, MA – September 15, 2017 – IBC2017, Stand 14.L08: Signiant, the leading provider of SaaS solutions for fast, reliable global access to high-value media files, today announced that some of the media industry’s most innovative emerging cloud services will be showcased with the company’s SaaS platform at IBC 2017. One such partner, Hybrik, brings a unique new model to the cloud transcoding space that aligns particularly well with Signiant’s pioneering efforts to make cloud technology accessible to the industry.

“Our customers are increasingly configuring Media Shuttle portals to serve as landing pads for various cloud services,” said Margaret Craig, CEO at Signiant. “The starting point for any cloud workflow is to get the assets into cloud storage, and our technology is the fastest and easiest means of accomplishing that. Once there, the Media Shuttle interface provides a familiar mechanism for managing the files and keeping them ready for eventual distribution. Customers are designing advanced workflows with Shuttle portals as the cloud storage anchor point, and we’re working closely with companies like Hybrik to make these deployments as seamless as possible.”

Both companies have responded creatively to customers’ desire for ‘bring your own’ flexibility in the deployment of cloud services. In addition to powerful transfer acceleration technology, Signiant Media Shuttle includes easy-to-use interfaces for various stakeholders delivered via an auto-scaling cloud-native SaaS. However, the storage component of the system is the customer’s own cloud storage tenancy – Signiant does not re-sell cloud storage or take custody of the customer’s high-value media assets. Similarly, Hybrik does not bundle cloud compute power with its high-powered transcoding software. Rather, the processing software runs on the customer’s cloud compute resources, and Hybrik provides tools to help customers make tradeoffs between cost and performance. These related approaches both leave key public cloud resources under the customer’s direct control.

“Hybrik’s disruptive cloud transcoding offering is getting great traction within the industry,” said David Trescot, CEO at Hybrik. “As our market position grows, our workflows inevitably intersect with the enormous global footprint of Media Shuttle. With Media Shuttle portals serving as the primary cloud storage virtualization mechanism for many customers, Signiant is providing much more than accelerated transport as media enterprises of all sizes become cloud-ready. We’re excited about the opportunity to collaborate as the market evolves. ”

Signiant Media Shuttle and Hybrik cloud media processing can be seen in stands 14.L08 (Signiant) and 14.N04 (Hybrik) at IBC 2017.
